jobs, bg & fg - Job Control

Learn to manage background and foreground jobs with jobs, bg, and fg.

Step 1

Run jobs to see current background and stopped jobs.

Type: jobs

jobs

Step 2

Bring job 1 (vim) to the foreground using fg %1.

Step 3

Resume job 1 in the background using bg %1.

Step 4

Kill job 1 using its job reference with kill %1.

Step 5

Check jobs again to verify job 1 has been removed.
